TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Police say a pregnant woman was shoved to the ground as a man stole her purse just outside her boyfriend's home Monday night.

Melinda is 7 months pregnant and says she was just feet from the front door when a man came up behind her and put his arm over her mouth.

"He put his arm around my mouth. He was tall. He said ‘give me it, give me it," said Melinda.

The man knocked Melinda to the ground. Melinda's boyfriend heard the commotion and scared the thief away, but not before he got her purse.

Melinda says she and the baby are healthy after the ordeal.

"I'm lucky everything's ok with the baby and I'm ok. It could have been so much worse," said Melinda.

Police say someone tried to use Melinda's debit card at several places in south Toledo, including a Subway.  Melinda had already deactivated the cards, but says she's now scared.

"I don't want to be scared about coming home," said Melinda.
