(FOX19) - For the sixth year, the Survivors Parade presented by Kroger will happen on Kentucky Oaks Day. This year the Kentucky Oaks is May 2, the day before the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby.

It's a march of breast and ovarian cancer survivors which takes place on Churchill Downs' racetrack directly prior to the Longines Kentucky Oaks race.

The public can:

Nominate yourself, a relative or a friend by sharing a brief personal experience that relates to breast and/or ovarian cancer survival.

Vote for your favorite and most inspirational nominee. Nominees with the highest tallied votes will be selected to participate in the Survivors Parade presented by Kroger. You can vote once per day, per IP address.

Donate, on behalf of your favorite nominee, to Bright Pink. Churchill Downs has partnered with Bright Pink, the only national nonprofit organization that focuses on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women while providing support for high-risk individuals. Learn more about Bright Pink here.

Share your favorite nominee's story on Facebook, Twitter and email and help them get votes.

Survivors with the most votes will receive:

  • Two free reserved seats to the Kentucky Oaks courtesy of Churchill Downs
  • The opportunity to walk the Churchill Downs racetrack with fellow survivors just before the 140th running of the Kentucky Oaks

Nominations and voting will take place through 11:59 p.m. Monday. 140 survivors will be announced on Tuesday.
