CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Not all participants in today's Opening Day Parade will have two legs!
UC Medical Center pet therapy dogs and their human volunteers will be representing the institution in their very own float.
After 17 years of participating in the parade, the UC Medical Center Pet Therapy group will show their team spirit by wearing Red's gear as they ride on their very own float.
They are keeping their tails crossed to win first place in the float selection and hope the honor comes with some beef jerky.
These dogs play an important role at the hospital. They must meet strict criteria in order to be accepted into the pet therapy program.
Many of these dogs work with cancer patients and those who have had brain injuries. They are there to provide comfort to the patients and bring smiles to family members.
Look for the Big Red Doghouse Float # 154, right behind Animal Welfare, and in front of the Hoxworth Blood Center!
