Beshear signs Ky. snow day relief bill

FRANKFORT, KY (FOX19) - Reporter Theo Keith with our sister station in WAVE in Louisville has this update Monday from the Kentucky General Assembly in Frankfort.

Gov. Steve Beshear signed the snow day relief bill into law, allowing school districts to finish school June 6 if they choose. Read more about the bill here.

The Senate gave final passage to Senate Bill 109 which bans the sale of electronic cigarettes to people under the age of 18.

The Senate gave final passage to Senate Bill 124 which allows University of Louisville and University of Kentucky hospitals to use cannabis oil to treat seizure patients.

Senate President Robert Stivers effectively declared House Bill 70, the felon voting rights legislation, dead for this session.

Stivers said the Senate does not plan to pass legislation this session to allow Lexington to raise hotel room taxes to pay for the expansion of Rupp Arena. Lexington's mayor has said this legislation was necessary for the project to go forward.
