New information: Police say Bengal was brandishing gun

Orson Charles arrested

BEREA, Ky. (FOX19) - Bengals fullback Orson Charles was arrested Monday night a first degree wanton endangerment charge on southbound Interstate 75 in Berea, Ky.

Berea Police stopped Charles because of a complaint called in from another motorist. The motorist said Charles brandished a firearm toward him several times while driving down the highway, an arrest report says.

The motorist told police that Charles cut him off and the situation escalated into a road rage incident. Charles allowed police to search his vehicle. Police found a semi-automatic Smith & Wesson handgun inside a purse that was in the vehicle's rear.

Police said Charles, 23, of Tampa, Fla., refused to make a statement.

The incident happened at 7:28 p.m. Monday. Charles was arrested at 8:52 p.m. Monday on the interstate.

This is not the first time Orson has been in trouble with the law. About a month before the 2012 draft, Charles was arrested on a DUI charge.

Charles is coming off the season in which he played 13 games. He was booked in the Madison County Detention Center.

Berea is about 120 miles south of Cincinnati.
