PAINESVILLE, OH (WOIO) -

Prison for the man convicted of fatally shooting his wife's caged dog during an argument.

Roger Harnish, 68, pleaded no contest to an animal cruelty charge, and was found guilty by the judge. Harnish was then ordered to serve 15 days in jail.

On Feb. 4, Lake County Sheriffs Deputies responded to the couple's Dorchester Road home in Perry Township after Harnish's wife called 911 from a neighbor's house.

According to deputies, Harnish and his wife had a heated argument. Since her dog, Terry, was protective of her, the wife put the dog in his cage. That is when Roger shot the dog four times.
