TPS reschedules 2 high school graduations

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

After Toledo Public Schools announced its decision on Thursday about how it will make up calamity days, some parents woke up Friday morning confused about graduation times. So the district explained how graduations will be handled.

TPS officials have announced that times will change for two high school graduation ceremonies. Bowsher and Scott will keep graduation on Thursday, June 5 at the Stranahan Theater, but the times will change. Now, Bowsher will celebrate graduation at 2 p.m. instead of 10 p.m. Scott students will graduate at noon, instead of 2 p.m.

One parent says plans for her family have already been made for graduation day, with family and friends coming in from out of state and work schedules moved.

"I work nights, so I made my schedule so I was off the night before, so I'd be available in the morning. Now I have to go straight from graduation into work. I'm a nurse, so I have to leave the graduation and go straight to work," explained one mom.

It's all about making up those calamity days after Toledo's historic winter.

According to TPS officials, an insert will go into original invitations with the new times.

Also, the district is trying its best to keep parents up to date on its website, along with Twitter and Facebook pages.
