CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - General Electric is opening a new facility in Cincinnati that will bring 1,400 jobs to the Tri-State.

JobsOhio and GE announced on Thursday that Cincinnati was selected as the location for their new Global Operations Center, a headquarters for the management of GE finances and information technologies.

Ohio is already home to 15,000 GE employees, more than any other state, according to Matt Davis of REDI Cincinnati. GE Aviation has been headquartered in Evendale, right outside of Cincinnati, for 40 years.

"We're thrilled with the confidence this move show in the people of Ohio," said Ohio Gov. John Kasich in a JobsOhio release.

JobsOhio, a non-profit designed to drive job creation, worked closely with GE to advocate for Cincinnati by providing information on suitable sites and economic development assistance. Ohio was reportedly in competition with multiple other locations in the U.S.

The Greater Cincinnati site will be one of five GE Operations Centers around the world. Ground-breaking at the facility is expected to happen this summer, with it being fully operational by 2017.
