The Cincinnati Bengals signed free agent defensive end Sam Montgomery on Friday, a second-year NFL player.
Montgomery was a third-round Houston draft pick in 2013. Listed as a linebacker by the Texans, he was gameday inactive on the roster for the first seven games and was waived Oct. 22.
He was signed briefly to the Oakland practice squad in
Montgomery played three seasons (2010-12) at Louisiana State University, helping the Tigers to an overall 34-6 record and a berth in the 2011 BCS National Championship game.
He had 19 sacks and in 31 career games tied for sixth in program history.
