VERONA, KY (FOX19) - Authorities have identified the man shot and killed by a Gallatin County deputy on Saturday evening.
Kentucky State Police say the deputy, identified as Edwin Caldwell, was dispatched to 6665 Highway 16 around 5 p.m. Officials say Caldwell was responding to complaints regarding an intoxicated man.
After arriving on the scene, officers say that Caldwell was approached by Gary Burdine, 41, from Verona, Ky. Officials say that Burdine pulled a gun and threatened to shoot Caldwell.
Caldwell drew his pistol and shot Burdine. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Gallatin County Coroner.
