Colerain Police: Man tried to run over detective

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Colerain Township Police have arrested a 20-year-old Cincinnati man who is accused of trying to run over a detective who was out of his vehicle.

Police said Robert L. Bryer was seen Tuesday leaving the Walmart store at 8451 Colerain Ave. with stolen merchandise. The store contacted a Colerain Police detective who was on the scene investigating another matter.

The detective saw Bryer enter his vehicle and leave the lot after being ordered to stop. The detective followed Bryer northbound on Colerain Avenue until Bryer pulled into an empty parking lot.

Police said the detective started to approach Bryer when Bryer backed into the detective's vehicle. Bryer then turned his vehicle around and attempted to run down the detective who was still outside of his vehicle.

Bryer fled southbound on Colerain Avenue, discarding the stolen merchandise in the road. Uniformed officers tracked Bryer down and arrested him. The alleged stolen property was found.

Bryer faces robbery, felonious assault on a police officer, failure to comply and tampering with evidence charges.
