One dead after early morning crash on I-71 NB

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A person was killed early Wednesday morning after an accident on Interstate 71 northbound.

It happened around 5 a.m. near the Smith Edwards Road exit. A pothole crew was sitting in their truck when it was hit by a driver, according to Norwood police. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

At one point, all lanes were shut down at the Smith Edwards Road exit. The lanes have since reopened.

Police are investigating how the driver lost control. Their identity has not been released.
