It's a Cincinnati tradition that dates back to the 1800s.
On Good Friday, people will climb the steps at Holy Cross-Immaculata Parish in Mount Adams. On each step, they will pray.
The parish's website has a detailed description of the tradition.
Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk blessed on Holy Thursday 2009 new steps that the city of Cincinnati had built. The 96 steps lead to a viewing platform at the top.
The parish says they welcome usually 8,000 to 10,000 pilgrims. The parish provides coffee and donuts in the parish center. Later in the afternoon and evening, the parish hosts a fish fry.
FOX19's Kelly Rippin is live from parish on Friday's FOX19 Morning News.
