(FOX19) - The Ohio Valley 2014 Run MS is Saturday at Yeatman's Cove.

Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. Registration is $35 on Saturday.

The event raises money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society that provides services to people living with multiple sclerosis.

FOX19's Kelly Rippin is the emcee of the event. We'll have a preview on Thursday's The Xtra.

"Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a potentially debilitating disease in which your body's immune system eats away at the protective sheath (myelin) that covers your nerves," the Mayo Clinic says. "Damage to myelin causes interference in the communication between your brain, spinal cord and other areas of your body."

The disease doesn't have a cure. The Mayo Clinic says people with multiple sclerosis may lose the ability to walk or speak clearly. says famous multiple sclerosis patients include Montel Williams, Ann Romney and Neil Cavuto.
