(FOX19) - Three tri-state cities are conducting sobriety checkpoints on Friday as a part of efforts to reduce fatalities from drunk driving.
Springdale: A checkpoint will be held in the 11700 block of Springfield Pike, an area were 32 drivers were arrested for OVI within a six-month period. Operations will begin at 11:30 p.m. Friday and end at 3 a.m. Saturday morning.
Cincinnati: A checkpoint will be held in the 2000 block of Harrison Avenue where 31 OVI-related crashes have happened in the last year. The checkpoint will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and end at 1 a.m. Saturday.
City of Hamilton: The checkpoint will be held on State Route 129 from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.
Hamilton County alone saw 15 fatal alcohol-related fatal crashes in 2013, ten less than the year before. Authorities say they hope the checkpoints will further reduce that number in 2014.
