COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Rescue crews were called to the scene after a couple tipped their canoe in the Great Miami River.
Authorities were called to the scene of Blue Rock Road Bridge around 7:30 p.m. Friday. The bridge is between Crosby and Colerain Townships in western Hamilton County.
Police say that Melissa Hardwick, 24, and Ben Mohr, 26, were heading down river when their canoe tipped. Officers say that Hardwick was able to safely swim to shore. Crews say that Mohr became stuck in the middle of the river.
Mohr was able to cling to a partially submerged tree near a bridge pylon for the Blue Rock Road overpass. Rescue crews were able to lower him a flotation device and portable radio.
Authorities say that members of the Colerain Township Fire Department were able to reach Mohr and safely pull him into their rescue craft.
Both Hardwick and Mohr were evaluated by medical personnel at the scene. Both subjects declined transportation to the hospital.
