Car ends up wedged under tanker truck


A couple visiting from Hawaii was hurt during a crash when their rental car ended up wedged under a tanker truck.

Officials with Kalama fire said the crash happened at 7:47 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Kalama, WA.

The crash happened when the driver lost control of the car, spun out and ended up stuck under the tank of the semi-truck. The tank of the truck was empty.

The driver and passenger of the car were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Firefighters say as they were working on the couple in this crash, they witnessed another car crash happen at high speeds that almost resulted in two firefighters getting hit. No injuries were reported in that crash.

Officials believe the cause of the first crash is weather related.
