Officials Travel To Visit Arafat

Palestinian officials to travel to France to visit Arafat

Palestinian officials says it's "absurd" that Yasser Arafat's wife controls the flow of information about Arafat's condition and has taken charge of access to her husband. Palestinian officials are making the comments after deciding not to cancel a trip to visit the ailing leader. Arafat remains in a French hospital where doctors are trying to determine what's ailing him.

His wife had said the officials coming to visit want "to inherit" his power and bury him "alive." Those words initially caused the leaders to cancel their visit. However, they now say they will go to Paris late tonight or early tomorrow.

They also accuse his wife of wanting "to destroy the Palestinian leadership's decision and to be the lone decision-maker."
