Posted: Updated:

One of the world's biggest tennis tournaments returns to Mason, Ohio this summer. Tournament directors are searching for volunteers to be a part of the action.

The Western & Southern Open is accepting applications for volunteers for the 2014 tennis tournament to be held August 9-17 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

"Our volunteers come from all over the country and make lifetime friends that they see each year at the event in August," said Mary Conner, Director of Volunteers for the tournament. "It represents a unique experience where volunteers can get very close to world-class athletes at an event that happens in only a handful of places in the world each year.

The tournament has 33 volunteer committees comprising more than 1,300 volunteers that play an integral role in almost every function of the event including player transportation, press box operations, ushering, and player security.

All volunteers are asked to review and meet the following requirements:

  • Work a minimum of five shifts
  • Be available for training and uniform pick-up at the Volunteer Party on Saturday, July 26 from 9 a.m. – noon. (Or have a representative).
  • Be a goodwill ambassador at the tournament while on and off duty.
