Butler Co. Sheriffs warn of jury duty scam

BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Butler County Sheriffs are warning of a new phone scam targeting residents.

Officials state that several residents have been receiving phone calls stating that they have missed jury duty and a warrant has been issued for their arrest.

The caller then instructs them to call the "Butler County Sheriff's Office Judicial Security Division" where they are told they need to make a payment to have the warrant withdrawn.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office states they do not have a "Judicial Security Division" and would never solicit payment for a warrant to be withdrawn.

Sheriff Richard Jones warns all citizens to be skeptical any time someone calls you and tries to bully you into sending them money.
