LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Despite the amount of beds, there is something about the Kentucky Derby Festival Great Bed Races that keeps one family up at night, specifically the planning.

As a team competing in the races for 18 years Monday's event at Broadbent Arena was about fun and family for the Cox's.

"Every year I say, this will probably be my last year," Linda Cox said. "But then, they come up with a theme and send it to ya, and it's not my last year."

Linda's son and teammate, Scott Cox who owns Rubbies Southside Grill, helped pull out all the stops for the 2014 Call of the Wild theme.

Dancing pigs, sharks and surfers represented the team as the made their grand entrance into the arena.

Then it was time for the mad dash to strip the float down for the race.

"Anything else on there is extra weight. You want optimum speed, we want to win," Scott Cox said.

After the float was disassembled, the team stood in line to wait for the chance to lay it all out there.

While the team wasn't the fastest they proved to be a crowd pleaser. Rubbies Southside Grill took home the title of Most Entertaining.
