MASON, OH (FOX19) - AtriCure Inc., a medical device manufacturer, will move its headquarters from West Chester Township to Mason.

The city said Tuesday the company will become an early signature tenant in the new OakPark District planned at Western Row Road and Innovation Way.

AtriCure will build its new two-story, 85,000 square-foot global headquarters on a 10.5 acre campus in the district that house 200 science and technology employees in the first five years. The city of Mason will offer $2.9 million in financial incentives over a 15-year period that include tax abatement, a customized grant and workforce wellness incentives.

"We had a very thorough search process and determined Mason was the best fit for our growth, given their competitive financial package and focus on health and wellness as a community," said Mike Carrel, AtriCure president and CEO. "The city of Mason has been a good partner for bioscience growth companies and they provided the best mix of logistic, financial and partnership benefits that will help position us for strategic growth and attract top talent for years to come."

Groundbreaking will happen later this year with AtriCure moving into the new facility in late 2015 or early 2016.

The company is currently located at 6217 Centre Park Drive in West Chester near Cincinnati Dayton Road.

"Although West Chester is disappointed in AtriCure's decision to relocate, the township is confident it was as competitive as it could be in trying to retain this 'home-grown' company while still being responsible stewards of taxpayers' dollars," the township said. "AtriCure thrived and flourished in West Chester's diverse and established corporate environment."
