Coroner rules infant death as homicide, Avondale man charged with murder
Charges against an Avondale man have been upgraded to aggravated murder after the Hamilton County Coroner has ruled the death of a 3-month-old infant as a homicide.
Authorities were called to the 3400 block of McFarlan Road around 9 p.m. Monday after receiving reports of a non responsive infant. The infant was transported to Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Shavale Johnson, 24, was initially charged with endangering children. Johnson struck the child with a closed fist causing serious physical harm, according to court documents.
The Hamilton County Coroner's office ruled the death of the infant a homicide on Tuesday.
Detectives signed the additional charge of Aggravated Murder against Shavale Johnson. Johnson remains incarcerated at the Hamilton County Justice Center.
