MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - Middletown's fire marshal said Wednesday that a fatal fire last week has been determined to be arson and a possible homicide.

The fire was reported around 10 a.m. April 24 in the 2500 block of El Camino Drive. Middletown fire officials said screams were heard from inside the home when crews arrived on scene. The fire was too big, however, and crews were ordered out of the structure.

Firefighters spent approximately 45 minutes on a defensive attack from outside. Authorities said crews were sent back inside and found the body of 50-year-old Sheri Slone who was pronounced dead at the scene.
