Man found guilty in deadly Mt. Orab shooting, sentenced to 18 years

MT. ORAB, OH (FOX19) - A Brown County jury has found 24-year-old Joseph Trzeciak guilty for the deadly shooting of his cousin on June 7, 2013.

Trzeciak was found guilty on May 1. Officers say the shooting happened on June 7 in Mt. Orab, Ohio.

Officers were called to Hyde Park Apartments on Hyde Park Drive around 10:30 p.m. that night after getting a disturbance call.

Upon arrival, they found 27-year-old James Mootispaw lying in front of the apartment complex.

Following an investigation, Trzeciak's was arrested in Michigan on June 9, 2013.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutors Zachary A. Corbin and Chris Van Harlingen of the Brown County Prosecutor's Office.

Following a four day trial, the jury deliberated for over three hours before reaching its verdict.  Upon the finding of guilt, Trzeciak was immediately sentenced to 18 years to life in prison by Judge Scott T. Gusweiler.
