(FOX19) - School officials in Fairfield are celebrating a victory at the polls as voters have passed a levy that will pave the way for three new schools.
Last fall, FOX19 reported about the lack of air conditioning, leaking pipes and other problems in buildings in the district. Thanks to the bond's passage, that will soon be a thing of the past.
This bond is a $2.60 million bond that will generate nearly $60 million that will be combined with $19 million in state funds to build a new Fairfield Central Elementary, a new Freshman School and a sixth elementary school.
The projects are expected to total about $80 million.
With the passage of the bond, it will tack on about $91 a year in taxes for every $100,000 a home is worth.
This issue was already on the ballot in November, failing by just a few dozen votes.
