CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A Hamilton County Municipal Court judge on Thursday set a $200,000 bond for an Avondale man on one count of murder.
Nigel Pitts 24, appeared briefly before Judge Tyrone Yates. At the rate of 10 percent, Pitts will have to post $20,000 to get out of the Hamilton County Justice Center.
Authorities say 68-year-old Lee Henley was found dead May 4 in his Avondale apartment.
Officers were called around 8 p.m. to the 3500 block of Alaska Avenue. Police say the initial investigation led officers to believe Henley died of natural causes. However, officials say it was later discovered Henley was killed.
Authorities say they later identified Pitts as the suspect. His last known address was the same apartment building in which Henley was found dead. Officials issued a warrant for Pitts' arrest Wednesday morning. He was arrested a short time later.
The Associated Press, citing a Cincinnati Enquirer story, said Henley is a former death row inmate who served time for killing a store clerk in 1964.
