(FOX19) - Imagine having 48 hours to make a movie?
Local residents have the opportunity to participate in The 48 Hour Film Project May 16-18. Hundreds of contestants are expected.
This year the project will tour nearly 125 cities worldwide, challenging more than 50,000 people to complete an entire film from writing and casting to filming and editing in a mere 48 hours.
More than 4,000 films will be created as part of the 2014 competition.
The best film from Cincinnati will be chosen and winners then will be in the running for top honors at Filmapalooza March 2015 in Hollywood, Calif. The festival is the project's annual awards and international film festival event.
The top 12 films from this worldwide event will screen at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner.
Festival schedule in the Tristate
Competition starts 6-7 p.m. May 16 at Cincinnati Educational Television, 1223 Central Parkway.
Films are due 7:30 p.m. May 18. The place is to be announced.
Premiere screenings are 1 p.m. May 25 at Thompson House, 24 E. Third St., Newport.
Prices are $10 per screening.

Team leaders of 2014 Cincy 48HFP get two free tickets each. You can buy three and get the fourth screening free.
