WEST END, OH (FOX19) - Police have identified the man who was shot early Saturday morning in the West End.

Officers were on routine patrol when they heard gunshots in the 400 block of Whiteman Street, according to authorities. Responding officers said they located the victim, 33-year-old Jason Dukes, with a gunshot wound to the head.

Dukes was transported to University Hospital where he died from his injuries.

A makeshift memorial was set up at the shooting location on Saturday evening where friends and relatives told FOX19 that Dukes was a good man.

"He has been trying to change over these past few years," said a woman at the memorial who claimed to know Dukes.

Police said the suspect got away in a white Ford Expedition. He is described as a black male in his early 20s with a thin build, and wearing a white and red checkered shirt. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
