Lawsuit claims Norwood school is not meeting child's needs

NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) - A Norwood mother has filed a federal lawsuit against the Norwood School District.

The lawsuit claims that a child, who has disabilities, is not receiving an appropriate education.

According to the suit, the mother of the 15-year-old wants to move the teen to a residential treatment community designed to serve children that will better serve her child's multiple needs.

The suit also claims that the district has refused to pay its share for the boy's educational costs, which is against Ohio law.

FOX19 reached out to Norwood Schools for comment. Superintendent Rob Amodio says the district is still working with the family and legal counsel to piece a solution together.
