Surfer accused of attempted murder blew kiss in court

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Wannabe pro surfer Jill Hansen appeared in court Monday on an attempted murder charge.

Wearing a black sweatshirt, jeans and her hair in a tangled bun, she appeared disheveled.

She waved at two women in the back of the courtroom who seemed to be crying.

The 30-year old Hansen is accused of hitting an elderly woman with her car in the parking garage of the victim's Waikiki condo last Wednesday.  Witnesses told police Hansen tried to reverse and hit the woman again, but a good samaritan, Chris Khory, used a crow bar to scare Hansen off.

Honolulu Police arrested her seven hours later at her Manoa apartment.

The victim, Elizabeth Conklin, who is in her 70s, was hospitalized in serious condition with cuts, and bruises.

Police say this may have started as road rage incident but the motive is not clear.

People who know Hansen say she suffers from mental illness.  She claims to be a professional surfer and model on her Facebook Page, even lists sponsors.  But at least one sponsor says that is not true.

As Hawaii News Now first reported, Hansen's father has a TRO against his daughter.  In the court documents, he claims that she tried to hire someone to murder him and his family.  She does have a pending abuse case.

And several surfers have contacted Hawaii News Now to tell us about run-ins they have had with her in the water.

Hansen's father was at court today.  He left before she was brought in.  The two women she acknowledged left without answering any questions or commenting.

Hansen's bail was confirmed at $1 million.

A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
