OVER THE RHINE, OH (FOX19) - A former Christian Moerlein building has reopened to provide affordable housing to senior citizens in Over-the-Rhine.
Over-the-Rhine Community Housing (OTRCH) held a grand opening Tuesday for its Elm Street Senior Housing facility at 1500 Elm Street. Officials said the neighborhood's only senior affordable housing community offers 15 one-bedroom units, two of which are fully accessible.
OTRCH has restored 86 properties, including 425 housing units, since 2006. The nonprofit has also connected with more than 20 service providers and 800 volunteers to ensure residents receive affordable housing along with access to health care, job services, education and community associations.
The new facility also has an on-site laundry facility, community meeting space, resident services office, elevator, secure entry, exterior courtyard and live-in building manager.
