COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A 6-year-old boy is being praised for his quick and calm action in a time of crisis.

The Hamilton County Communications Center honored Brandon Smith, 6, of Colerain Township, Wednesday. The communications center received a 911 call from Brandon last month, who told dispatchers that his mother had fallen down the stairs.

Colerain Township EMS and police were immediately called to the scene. The communication officer said that Brandon provided a phone number for his grandmother who lived nearby. The grandmother was quickly called and informed of what was going on.

During the call, the 6-year-old calmly followed directions and provided necessary information for responders. Brandon was also able to keep his brothers, ages 2 and 5, calm throughout the ordeal.

Police said Brandon's performance deserves the highest recognition. He was presented the Colerain Township 911 Hero Award in front of his classmates Wednesday at Colerain Elementary School.
