DEARBORN COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - Authorities say that officers fired several shots at a vehicle attempting to crash into a Dearborn County trooper.
Officials say that the incident happened between 12 and 12:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Multiple law enforcement agencies were conducting surveillance into an ongoing burglary investigation in the area.
During the investigation, police say they were able to identify two suspects believed to be involved in a burglary on Walter Road in northern Dearborn County. Surveillance units followed the suspect vehicle through Dearborn County. Officers say they attempted to stop the vehicle near Weisburg Road and Five Points.
As the vehicle appeared to be stopping, officials say a trooper exited his vehicle. The suspect vehicle allegedly attempted to strike the trooper. The trooper fired several shots at the vehicle, officers say.
A pursuit of the vehicle traveled through Dearborn County heading northbound on Lawrenceville Road and across S.R. 46. Officials state that the chase continued into Franklin County where the suspects abandoned their vehicle on Sturwold Road and ran off, police say.
Two suspects were apprehended a short time later. No officers were injured during the incident. Officers say one suspect suffered minor injuries.
Police are not releasing the names of those involved. FOX19 will continue to update the story as details become available.
