WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - West Chester Township Police said Thursday charges are pending in two accidents where one man was killed on Ohio 747 at Port Union Road.
Police said the first accident happened at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Ohio 747 between Mackenzie Court and Union Centre Boulevard.
Terrence Strader, 32, of West Chester, rear-ended a Honda Civic, driven by Christy Martin. Strader continued driving and hit a second vehicle only minutes later.
Strader reportedly ran a red light and struck a Toyota Prius driven by Troy Stapleton, 62, of Fairfield.
Stapleton, who worked at Universal Transport Systems in Fairfield and was driving a company vehicle, died at the scene. Strader was taken to West Chester Hospital.
FOX19 obtained records showing that Strader has been involved in a previous accident that resulted in injuries and a lawsuit.
Aircare responded to a 2012 accident where Strader reportedly hit a tree, sign and pole when exiting Interstate 71. The other driver involved in that accident sued Strader for $25,000, claiming he suffered "severe and permanent injuries to mind and body", according to court documents. That case was settled out of court.
Authorities said Thursday's accident remains under investigation and they believe Strader was speeding. Charges against him are pending.
