WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Whitewater Township Fire Department rescued a 25-year-old woman on Sunday night from the Great Miami River.
The woman and a man were swimming in the river around 9 p.m. when rain moved through and the current swept them under a bridge, officials on scene told FOX19. The man was able to get to shore but the woman was stuck amongst debris under the bridge.
Rescue crews had boats in the water on both sides of the river. They were able to throw her a line to pull her to safety. Officials said she and the man were not injured.
The bridge is located on Route 50 at Valley Junction Road in Whitewater Township.
