RISING SUN, IN (FOX19) -

An Indiana woman was charged with murder Tuesday after state police discovered the body of her ex-husband in a metal box.

Danielle Green, 42, was arrested by Indiana State Police in connection to the death of 62-year-old Raymond Green.

Authorities said officers were conducting a welfare check on Green May 28 at a residence off of Hartford Pike in Ohio County. State police began a missing person's investigation after Danielle Green told investigators she didn't know the whereabouts of her ex-husband.

Police said the residence is located on a large piece of property in a rural area of the county. As the investigation unfolded, authorities said there was enough probable cause to obtain a search warrant at various locations on the property.

Green's body was found in a metal box on his property. An autopsy at the Hamilton County morgue indicated that Green died from multiple gunshot wounds.

"(Danielle Green) won't give consent for this silver box that the police find on the premises that has an odor of decay, decomposition, as well as flies," said Ohio County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard.

Negangard said Danielle Green told a neighbor, her ex-husband's family and his employer, that he was killed by their dog.

"She was doing Internet searches about a .38 caliber shot, someone being shot in the head by a .38 caliber handgun, looking at head shots, looking at how Gabrielle Giffords survived her shot in the head,"  Negangard said.

Green had an initial hearing Tuesday at the Ohio County Circuit Court in Rising Sun, Ind.

Green's attorney declined comment.
