Man shot and killed answering the front door

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

A 36-year-old man is murdered and Akron Police Officers say the suspect shot him through the front door.

Officers say Morris Gaffney went to answer the door around 1:15 a.m. Friday on Wesley Avenue when he was shot by an unknown person.

Gaffney lived in the Channelwood Village Apt. complex.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:29 a.m., on June 6, 2014.

Officers say the murder appears to be drug related.

The Summit County Medical Examiner says Gaffney died from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Police are searching for suspects.
