TIPTON COUNTY, TN -

(WMC) - People in Tipton County continue to clean up one day after storms caused damage to their area.

Trees are down, many on homes and cars. Residents are picking up branches and limbs everywhere, but Adam Uttz has a bigger problem.

"I walked into our living room only to find that our ceiling had kind of caved in," he said.

Thursday's storm took out nearly 70 trees in the area and about 25 power lines. It left people like Betty Wiseman in the dark over night

"No electricity. No air conditioning. My husband's computer is out, so that upsets him. And we slept by candlelight," she said.

Power lines now dangle across her new metal roof. Tree limbs are all over her yard, but her home was spared.

"The thunder was so loud and the wind was so strong that we never heard the trees pop or nothing," she said.

A roof was blown off a Covington business on the square. The downtown area was hit hard; Nancy Huelsing will now be in the market for a new car.

"I think it's totaled. But no one was hurt," said Huelsing.

Insurance adjusters are telling storm victims it could take up to a week to get damage estimates.
