KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

It was a shocking crime – a young mother and her child were killed last August and the case remains unsolved.

Family members hope a rally will help solve the killings of the mother and her 3-year-old daughter.

Myeshia Turner's family and concerned residents passed out fliers with a picture of the two victims on them Friday night in hopes of getting tips in to police after the case has seemed to grow cold. Last August, Turner and her 3-year-old daughter, Damiah, were found killed in the apartment in which they had only lived in for five days.

Turner's 11-month-old son was also in the home, but he was not harmed.

"It's hard on us, it's devastating on us, the family, it's causing turmoil. We just want answers," said Kevin Turner, Myeshia Turner's uncle.

The gathering was held at 55th Street and Prospect Avenue with the hope that residents will not forget the victims of the "senseless killings."

"We never think about the different things that happen unless it happens to us," said Isaiah Muhammad who attended Friday's rally.

Muhammad said it's something that has to change in Kansas City.

"A lot of the people in the neighborhood, they don't trust the police. That's why a lot of them don't come forward. Maybe they have enough trust in us they will give us the information," he said.

The grieving family and community members hope someone will say something and they won't stop until someone does.

"We're hoping that we can seek justice for all the parents that have lost their loved ones," said Student Minister Vincent Muhammad.

Myeshia Turner was just 28 when she was killed.
