(FOX19) - A 6-year-old girl was the victim of a gruesome attack last week in Westwood in which she was mauled by two pit bulls.
Officers said Zainabou Drame was outside playing with her brother when the dogs attacked. She remains in a medically-induced coma at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
The question has surfaced among many parents since the incident: What can you teach your kids to do if a dog attacks?
Jeremy Hessel of the Hamilton County Health Department suggests that if a child is approached, they should stop and stand still and never try to outrun a dog.
If the dog attacks, the child should immediately drop to the ground and curl up in a ball. Hessel says it's also important to protect your head, face and cover your ears.
