SAO PAULO (CNN) - Subway workers on Tuesday suspended a five-day-long strike after it spilled onto the streets.

But the union says it will decide whether to resume the strike on Wednesday, a day before the World Cup begins in Brazil.

The wage dispute has added to the traffic congestion in Sao Paulo ahead of the tournament.
