Police: Union Twp. resident shoots intruder in self-defense

A suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot during a reported home invasion early Wednesday morning in Union Township.

Police said a home invasion was reported at about 2:30 a.m. in the 4400 block of Grandview Drive. Demetrius Robinson, 24, was found shot by a resident of the home in self-defense, officers said after conducting a preliminary investigation.

Robinson was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was taken into surgery and as of late Wednesday morning, his condition was listed as critical.

Authorities said Robinson will face charges once his condition is fully known.    

Two teenagers were also taken into custody by Union Township police. A 16-year-old male was charged with aggravated robbery, felonious assault and aggravated burglary. A 17-year-old female was charged with complicity to aggravated robbery and complicity to aggravated burglary.

Officers said a handgun used by the suspect was recovered at the scene.

An investigation remains ongoing.
