(FOX19) - An appeals court found that an Arizona-based gossip site should not have to pay former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader over online posts.

The AP reports that the decision came from the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals which reversed a federal Kentucky judge's decision that allowed the lawsuit to proceed.

In 2012, Sarah Jones sued thedirty.com owner Nik Richie over false information about her that appeared on the website. Jurors found that Richie was acting out of malice and recklessness and Jones was awarded $338,000.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Jones claimed that she never received any of the $338,000. The post went on to say she believes the high court's decision is condoning internet bullying.

Internet giants like Google and Facebook have said that the original ruling could have limited online speech.

According to the AP, Jones' attorney says he will likely appeal.
