An aggravated vehicular homicide charge against a Liberty Township man was dismissed in court Wednesday, in connection to a woman's traffic death last April.

Thomas Recker, Jr., 55, was charged in a deadly hit-and-run accident on Cincinnati-Dayton Road. The body of 41-year-old Rebekah Jo Shaw was found lying just off the side of the roadway, investigators said.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said Shaw received significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones said Recker's vehicle, a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado, was believed to be involved in the incident. Recker was booked into the Butler County Jail the same day and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, OVI and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to Wednesday's grand jury report, prosecutors did not indict Recker on the aggravated vehicular homicide or OVI charge. The aggravated vehicular assault charge was also dropped.

Recker was indicted on one count of failure to stop after an accident.
