NEW MIAMI, OH (FOX19) -
A New Miami man is facing a 19-count indictment that includes charges for the rape of pre-teen boys.
Luke Buchanan, 34, was arrested earlier this month after an extensive investigation by the Butler County Sheriff's Office.
Police are zeroing in on a shed outside Buchanan's home, on Riverside Drive in New Miami.
Police say it's referred to as the "clubhouse" by many. The barn is where they said Buchanan sexually assaulted young boys under the age of 13.
The sheriff's office said Buchanan moved to New Miami about a year ago and brought the shed with him.
"When he first moved in there, that barn wasn't there, and he put a private fence up. I don't know what he did that for," said Charles Withrow, Buchanan's neighbor.
Neighbors said from what they know, Buchanan seemed like a friendly, down-to-earth guy.
"I talk to him all the time, by the fence. He's a nice guy and he helped me dig that hole out there to put my flowers in," Withrow said.
Along with five counts of rape, Buchanan is facing a handful of other charges that include giving alcohol to minors and corrupting another with drugs. Police believe he would lure the boys in the "clubhouse" with alcohol and marijuana. Withrow said he did notice several kids near Buchanan's home on a regular basis.
"I've seen a bunch of kids over there playing ball and stuff like that, riding bicycles," Withrow said.
Investigators said Buchanan has a wife and kids and it appears he was living and sleeping in the air conditioned shed, with his family in the house next door.
Over the next several days, police will continue to search for DNA evidence because there's a possibility they haven't uncovered all of Buchanan's alleged dirty secrets.
"I feel sorry for them. If he done something like that, God will punish him," Withrow said.
Police said Buchanan moved from a neighborhood in St. Clair Township on Mostow Road. They're also looking into the possibility of more victims from that area.
