Opera Director Quits

Director of Sorg Opera in Middletown leaving in 2005

The leader of an opera company in Middletown is moving on. Curtis Tucker plans to step down next year as general director of the Sorg Opera Company after eight years with the organization. Sorg Opera's board said yesterday that Tucker has submitted his intention to resign at the end of the 2004-2005 season. Tucker said he will leave sometime between the last show of the season on April 23rd and the end of Sorg's fiscal year in June so he can devote time to other composing and conducting opportunities. The Sorg Opera board's president, William Teager, says Tucker will be missed. Tucker joined the opera company in 1997 as business manager and assistant artistic director. He assumed duties as artistic director in 2000.
