TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A Toledo Police officer has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Officer Paul Toth, a 14 year veteran of the force, was stopped by an Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper at 3:30 Sunday morning for a marked lanes violation on I-475 near US 23. He got pulled over after troopers say he crossed the marked line on 475 westbound.
Toth refused a breathalyzer so he was not arrested. He was charged with OVI and will face a judge on Friday to be arraigned.
Toledo police as well as the Toledo Police Patrolmen's Association would not comment on the situation. Both stated it is in the officer's contract not to comment on a pending internal investigation.
Police say Officer Toth will be allowed to stay
on the job at the police station. This
is because he works in tech services with the department's computers. He is not required to drive in that position.
