CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Streetcar track construction will close the intersection of  Race and 12th street for approximately six weeks.

Race Street will be closed near 12th Street beginning Sunday at 9 p.m. and ends Aug. 15.

Earlier this month, Vine Street near 12th Street was closed for a week.

Street crews will be installing a special track for the Cincinnati Streetcar that includes a combination of straight and curved track which creates a switch point that connects two loops, one for Over-The-Rhine and another for the Central Business District.

The first phase of the system, which is scheduled to begin passenger service in September 2016, consists of a 3.6-mile loop extended from The Banks to Findlay Market through Downtown and Over-The Rhine.
