Two Franklin citizens help make arrest

FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) -

Two Franklin, OH citizens helped in apprehending a criminal after the suspect became verbally aggressive and assaulted an officer.

Yesterday, Benjamin Lawson, 33, and Levi Miniard, 19, assisted an Officer in taking a suspect into custody after Officers were dispatched yesterday to a burglary in process on Minnick St. in Franklin.

As officers were checking the area of the burglary, the suspect, Charles Cole, 41, was spotted by one of the officers on East 6th Street near Sunnybrook Ave.

While conducting the field interview, Cole and the Officer got into a physical altercation.

As the altercation continued, the two citizens came to the officer's assistance helping the officer take Cole into custody.

Cole was transported to the Atrium Hospital where he was admitted for a 72 hour evaluation.

The Officer was transported by his Lieutenant to Sycamore Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries 

Cole will be charged with Burglary, Assault on a Police Officer and Obstructing Official Business.
